Course/Workshop Title Critical Discourses Analysis: An Introduction

Target Audience interest in language, communication, and social analysis,
Objective ·         Provide participants with a foundational understanding of Critical Discourse Analysis as an interdisciplinary approach to analyzing language in social contexts.

·         Develop skills to identify and analyze power relations embedded in language use, examining how language reflects and perpetuates social inequalities.

·         Enable participants to uncover and critique ideologies and social constructs embedded in discourse, exploring how language shapes perceptions and reinforces societal norms.

·         Guide participants in analyzing language in its broader context, considering historical, cultural, and social factors that influence discourse.

·         Explore linguistic devices and strategies used in discourse to influence opinions, attitudes, and beliefs, with a focus on rhetoric and framing.

·         Illustrate the application of Critical Discourse Analysis in various domains such as media, politics, education, and business.

·         Discuss ethical considerations in conducting Critical Discourse Analysis, emphasizing the importance of responsible and respectful analysis.
