GU Alumni Awards

The Gulf University Alumni Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of our graduates who have made significant contributions to their professions, communities, and Gulf University. These awards honour excellence across multiple fields and inspire current students to follow in their footsteps.

Eligibility Criteria

1. 1All nominations must be made using the online Gulf Alumni of the Year Award online nomination form by 11:59 PM on Sunday, 4 May 2025 (Bahrain time).
2. 2The nominee must have graduated from Gulf University of Bahrain.
3. 3Nominations can be made by Gulf alumni, students and staff, as well as family members, colleagues or other members of the public. Self-nominations are also welcomed.
4. 4Nominations must detail how the nominee has demonstrated success and achievements in their professional career, significant involvement and contributions to their community, or an ongoing commitment and contribution to Gulf University of Bahrain through volunteering and advocacy.
5. 5If you'd like to nominate more than one person, nominations for different alumni across the award categories are welcome.
6. 6Each individual nomination must be submitted for one award category only.
7. 7If required, the Alumni Relations Office reserves the right to move any individual nomination between the award categories.
8. 8If required, the Alumni Relations Office reserves the right to make a final decision on any individual's eligibility for the awards.
9. 9Winners will be encouraged to undertake at least one activity for Gulf in the year of their award to benefit the Gulf community, such as providing an alumni profile or feature story, delivering a lecture or careers session, or the provision of advice and support to student groups.

Alumni Ineligible for the Awards

• Previous Gulf Alumni of the Year Award winners are not permitted to be nominated again in any award category.
• Gulf Honorary Graduates / Fellows of the University (unless the nominee also graduated from the University).
• Current members of the University's Board of Governors or its committees.
• Serving Politicians or Heads of State.

Short-listing and the Alumni Vote

1. 1Short-listing of all eligible applications will be undertaken by staff members of Gulf University of Bahrain after the closing date for nominations and in line with the eligibility criteria to select the finalists for each category.
2. 2Details of all finalists will be available on the website and the vote will be launched via email and social media channels including LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram.
3. 3Votes for finalists may only be cast by members of the Gulf alumni community, students and staff.
4. 4All alumni, staff and students will be allowed to cast one vote for one finalist in each category via the online voting form — multiple votes will not be counted.
5. 5The winner of each category is decided by the highest number of verified votes received from the alumni community.

Announcing the Winners
