Overview

The Bachelor in Business Intelligence & Analytics (BIA) programme at Gulf University is committed to preparing graduates ready to contribute towards the profession or pursue higher studies in the varied disciplines of Business Intelligence and Analytics. Graduates are empowered with the knowledge, skills and competencies needed for the development of the profession and communities in Bahrain, the region, and the world at large. The programme emphasizes the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, and is built on data-driven decision making, holistic education, industry relevance, ethical and responsible use of data, lifelong learning, collaboration and teamwork, a global perspective, and continuous improvement.

The world is experiencing a digital revolution, of which Business Intelligence and Analytics is a part. In alignment with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and the National Higher Education Strategy 2014–2024, Gulf University introduces this program to meet the growing demand for specialists who can turn data into insight. The program has been designed in accordance with the requirements of local regulatory bodies (HEC) and the quality-assurance standards of the BQA and NQF, and benchmarked against international reference points including AACSB and the QAA Subject Benchmark Statement for Business and Management.

As Bahrain shifts toward a knowledge-based economy and businesses embrace digital transformation, demand for data-driven decision-making is rising across sectors. The BIA program equips Bahraini and international graduates with the analytical, technical, and professional skills to support this transformation and contribute to the Kingdom’s economic development.

Program Aims

  • Provide students with critical knowledge and understanding of the business environment, big data analytics, decision-making challenges of firms, and tools and applications of data visualization in the organization.
  • Equip students with practical and digital skills to transform business data into value-added information to tackle complex organizational issues and improve business operations in diverse contexts.
  • Develop students’ analytical, problem-solving, innovation and lifelong-learning capabilities to leverage data and technology for evidence-based decision-making across the organization.
  • Empower students to collaborate with stakeholders supporting business operations, innovation, and digitalization, and to adapt strategies that reflect business intelligence and analytics in a competitive environment.
  • Provide a dynamic business environment through advanced statistical and programming software for professional practice, to capture and manage data and draw insightful conclusions in a global context.

Program Learning Outcomes

After successful completion of the programme, the student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate critical knowledge and understanding of theories and concepts of business analytics, including the synergy between management perspective and business environment within ethical, social and professional contexts.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and understanding of business intelligence applications and programming languages to explore, analyze and control data for a sustainable business environment.
  • Apply appropriate business analytics tools and technologies to present information in the form of metrics, key performance indicators, reports, and dashboards for day-to-day business practices.
  • Use programming techniques, database systems, predictive modeling, and big data analytics to carry out projects in the digitally driven organization.
  • Critically analyze business needs, business intelligence components and applications for informed decision-making in the organization.
  • Identify and articulate rigorous business analytics solutions to complex decision-making problems within an organizational context.
  • Communicate ideas, facts, messages, figures, and reports in written and verbal forms with clarity, coherence and impact to multiple stakeholders in various contexts.
  • Interpret and evaluate numerical, statistical, and graphical data for data-driven decision-making within ethical, economic, and sustainable perspectives.
  • Apply programming skills and digital tools to improve efficiency and propose innovative solutions in functional business areas.
  • Employ independent and self-directed learning through research and career development at the personal and professional levels.
  • Adhere to ethics and integrity in research, the workplace, and any kind of professional practice, with a commitment to meeting stakeholders’ needs.
  • Take the initiative to serve the industry and economy with business-analytic solutions related to authentic situations.
  • Demonstrate leadership and team-building skills to work collaboratively at various levels and to support data-driven decision-making in dynamic contexts.
