
Gulf University organized a comprehensive World Diabetes Day awareness event through its Center for Community Engagement and Continuing Education, partnering with prominent health organizations including the Bahrain Diabetes Society, Al Salam Hospital, Dr. Abdul Fattah Clinic, Nutrition Clinic, Merck, Paramedics Academy Team, and Bluebird Pharmacy.
The event included a sports marathon, educational sessions addressing diabetes prevention and management, and complimentary medical screenings. This activity demonstrates the university's commitment to health consciousness and supports the UN's third Sustainable Development Goal focused on wellness.
Dr. Maryam Ibrahim Al-Hajri, Vice President of the Bahrain Diabetes Society, delivered the keynote address titled "Diabetes and Quality of Life," praising the institution and collaborators for "raising community awareness and promoting public health."
University President Dr. Muhannad Al-Mashhadani stated that "partnerships and awareness initiatives play a crucial role in advancing public health and addressing key societal challenges." Dr. Marwan Milhem, Director of the Community Engagement Center, noted that "Gulf University remains steadfast in its mission to organize impactful community events."
