Gulf University - Sanad:
The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) renewed its cooperation agreement with the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) in early 2016 as part of its ongoing efforts to activate the community partnership with various sectors of Bahraini society to serve the sports movement.
The agreement was signed by the President of Gulf University Dr. Muhannad Al Mashhadani and the Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee Abdul Rahman Sadiq Askar.
Al Mashhadani expressed his great pride in renewing this agreement with the Bahrain Olympic Committee, whereby the players of the national teams who win first place in the Arab, continental and international championships will receive a 50% discount on university fees. The other players and athletes will all benefit from discounts
Dr. Mohannad also stressed that the renewal of the agreement confirms the successes achieved by the university after cooperation with the Bahrain Olympic Committee, which resulted in many training courses in the field of sports media, sports courses and marathons. A number of students benefited from the financial deductions provided by the university to the Olympic Committee members and athletes such as the Bahraini athletics star Ali Khamis who received a scholarship in one of the academic disciplines.
Al-Mashhadani pointed out that Gulf University encourages Bahraini youth to make more efforts to improve themselves and achieve excellence in their fields by offering scholarships to creative youth in all fields, especially the sports field. This latter receives great attention from His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and His Highness Sheikh Khalid Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the Bahrain Athletics Federation.
For his part, Secretary General of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, Abdul Rahman Sadiq Askar, said that the Bahrain Olympic Committee will circulate an official letter to all sports federations to benefit from the agreement. It will stress the keenness of the committee to extend bridges of cooperation and communication with various sectors of society.
In the same context, the head of the Admission and Registration Department at Gulf University, Baraa Al-Samarrai, said: ‘We are fully prepared to accept applications at Gulf University. The registration period for the first semester of the academic year 2017/2018 has begun in the following fields: Bachelor of Media, Finance, and Bachelor of Human Resources Management’ Ms. Samarrai called on all athletes to accelerate enrollment and benefit from the scholarships offered by Gulf University for them.
