Gulf University holds induction meeting for new students

On Tuesday, October 17th, 2017, Gulf University held an introductory meeting for its new students in all the specialties offered at the university in the big hall at the university headquarters in Sanad, in the presence of the university’s president, vice president, and all the academic staff.

The meeting started with a welcoming speech by the university president, Dr. Mohanad al-Mashhadani, in which he welcomed the new students and their parents and wished them a successful academic year. He pointed out that the university seeks to educate its students to be the best graduates of the region academically and personally.

The Vice President of the University Dr. Hesham El-Marsafawy said that the University seeks to change its internal structure in order to achieve the optimal educational environment for students. The Director of Admissions and Registration Department Ms. Baraa Al-Samarai and the Chairman of the Quality Committee Dr. Mouayad Aziz spoke about the policies and regulations of Gulf University starting from the process of registration of courses, to the deletion and addition of courses, examinations, and graduation.

The Student Services Unit, headed by Dr. Shafiq Al Samarai and its coordinator Marwa Al Sayed, gave a presentation about the services of the unit, its departments and activities in cooperation with the other units of the university, as well as all the health, security and entertainment services provided by the university to its student.

The Director of Information Technology Department Mr. Ali Mansour gave an overview about the different services of the department that benefit the students in the learning process. He talked about the e-learning system Moodle, electronic library, the electronic registration and finally the online payment that will be operational starting from the next spring semester.

The last presentation was delivered by Mr. Mahmoud Al-Fulaij, and it was about health and safety at the university. Mr. Mahmoud stressed the university's keenness on the health and safety of its students and he gave a brief overview on the emergency exits and the important security marks at the university.

The meeting ended with a speech by the President of the university’s Students Council, Fawaz Al-Abdullah, who shared his experience as a member of the council and as a student.  This was followed by honoring outstanding students who excel in different students’ activities. This was meant to encourage their new colleagues to be active participants in the various proposed activities.  At the end students and parents expressed their joy to be part of Gulf University.
