At GU, teaching methodologies focus on student achievement by integrating technology into the classroom. The teaching language in the ‘College of Engineering’ and ‘College of Computer Engineering and Science’ is English. The teaching languages in the ‘College of Administrative & Financial Sciences’ are English and Arabic except for the ‘Communication and Public Relations’ Program where the teaching language is Arabic.
Faculty:
For Faculty, teaching can take place between the hours of 8:00 am and 9:00 pm Saturday to Thursday, though you may work different shifts depending on the classes you teach. Faculty members usually teach a maximum of 5 classes per week and are expected to be within the college for a specified ‘office hours’ and ‘advising hours’ per week in order to be available if students require additional assistance.
Administrative and Non-Faculty:
Working hours for Administrative and other non-faculty positions are typically from 8:00am to 4:00pm from Sunday to Thursday with a break from 12:00 – 12:30pm. Saturday working hours are from 8:00am to 1:00pm.

Guidelines for GU Academic Members during E-Working:
- All Academic Staff members will conduct virtual classes, therefore they must ensure their devices are updated with the required software and are in good condition. They must also ensure they have sufficient Internet available. (You may coordinate with IT Department if needed).
- All Academic staff members must ensure they are conducting classes on time and no delays are accepted.
- If for any reason classes are canceled or postponed, notice must be sent to all students and HOD must approve it against accepted excuse.
- Please adhere to the Formal Dress Code, while delivering the online session with the students, use professional wording and body language. You are also required to be in a quiet and controlled spaces (environment).
- All Academic staff members are required to be virtually available for students during assigned online hours to a minimum of 3 hours twice a week.
- Academic Staff members must ensure to keep their course files updated, uploaded and accessible by concerned parties.
- Academic Staff members must be available through mobile during working days.
- Academic Staff members must check their emails every hour.
- Academic Staff members must reply to all emails same day before end of business.
- All regular and assigned admin tasks must be conducted on time.
- All Academic Staff members must report to all announced online meetings online as requested. Records of meetings must be taken, saved and available to all concerned parties.
- All Academic Staff who are members of any GU Committee must ensure to achieve all required and assigned tasks and be available for all conducted meetings.
Guidelines for GU Staff Members during E-Working:
- All Admin Staff members will be conducting their work online from home.
- All Admin Staff members must install Microsoft teams for online communication between staff.
- All Admin Staff members must be available online through (Phone, WhatsApp, Email, Microsoft Teams) from 8am to 4pm.
- All Admin Staff members are required to sign in and out from Microsoft teams as per the instructions received from IT.
- If any staff members is reporting sick or will not be able to conduct working online for any reason, a prior request must be sent to line manager and HR and also approved by president.
- All Admin staff members must check their emails every hour and reply before end of business.
- All Staff must ensure to keep their filing system updated.
- All Admin Staff members must ensure to complete all tasks requested by their line managers or superiors as needed.
- All Admin Staff who are members of any GU Committee must ensure to achieve all required and assigned tasks and be available for all conducted meetings.
- All Admin Staff members must report to all announced online meetings online as requested. Records of meetings must be taken, saved and available to all concerned parties.
